Pet food manufacturing is an extremely rigorous process that involves multiple controls to guarantee safety, quality and conservation of the nutritional value.

1. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT STAGES OF MANUFACTURING?

Pet food manufacturing is a long and rigorous process that starts with the preparation, weighing and cooking of the ingredients, and goes all the way to packaging. At each stage, multiple controls ensure that the nutritional value and quality of the food is preserved.

2. WHO IS INVOLVED IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS?

Production operators, veterinary nutritionists, the quality control team, logistics team... The manufacturing of pet food is no easy task. The Virbac Nutrition Team consists of around 60 people, all experts in their field - some have been with the company for over 30 years!

3. ENSURING FOOD SAFETY

Pet food is subject to the same standards as human food - many members of staff worked in that sector before joining us! Pet food manufacturing is also subject to the HACCP rules, a working method that makes it possible to monitor food safety at each and every level of production. In total, about 25,000 checks are carried out each year! 

4. WHAT IS A CERTIFIED MANUFACTURING SITE?

Our manufacturing site is ISO 9001 certified, a very strict quality management system. The production process is monitored from start to finish by an internal quality manager and is regularly assessed by the relevant external authorities. We are also members of the French and European reference organisations for nutrition, which guarantees that all necessary measures are implemented.
