FAQ

VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes W1 is a weight loss food for overweight and obese cats. It’s also suitable for:

• Managing fibre-responsive colitis.
• Managing lipid metabolism disorders (hyperlipidaemia).

If your cat has diabetes and is an ideal weight or underweight we would recommend VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Control W2.

VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes W1 is not suitable for kittens, pregnant/nursing cats, or cats with chronic kidney disease.

It's best to introduce any new cat food gradually to help your cat get used to their new diet. Try giving your cat a combination of their current food and VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes W1, slowly increasing the proportion of the new food as follows:

• Days 1 & 2: 75% current food and 25% VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes W1
• Days 3 & 4: 50% current food and 50% VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes W1
• Days 5 & 6: 25% current food and 75% VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes W1
• Day 7 onwards: 100% VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes W1

Before switching your cat to a new food, always check with your vet first.

Please refer to the feeding rations on the packaging of VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes cat food for recommended portion sizes. Keep in mind that you should feed your cat based on their target weight, not their current weight. If you’re unsure what their ideal target weight should be, ask your vet or vet nurse for advice.

VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes is designed for overweight cats, with or without diabetes, to help them reach a healthy weight. In the case of diabetes, it can also help to regulate glucose supply but providing a slow and steady energy release. VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Control is ideal both for helping your cat to lose weight, and for helping them to maintain a stable weight long-term. It can also help to regulate glucose supply for diabetic cats of a healthy weight or underweight. Always consult your vet when switching between these two foods as portions may need to be adjusted to avoid weight gain.

Cats are naturally carnivores and need to eat an abundance of high-quality animal proteins for optimal health. VETERINARY HPM® Weight Loss & Diabetes is formulated to meet these needs with 44% protein (94% animal origin) and 18% carbohydrates.
