FAQ

VETERINARY HPM® Senior Neutered is a senior cat food suitable for neutered cats over 10 years old.

Cats are naturally carnivores and need to eat an abundance of high-quality animal proteins for optimal health. VETERINARY HPM® Senior Neutered cat food is formulated to meet these needs with 38% protein (88% animal origin) and 25.5% carbohydrates. The high-protein/low-carbohydrate balance is ideal for preserving lean muscle mass, achieving a healthy weight and supporting your cat’s digestion.

Older cats often have a decreased appetite and are predisposed to weight loss, so they need an energy-dense food deisgned to help them meet their energy needs. Senior cats are also prone to loss of muscle mass and mobility, and feeding a high protein diet can help to preserve muscle mass and support joint health. Older cats are more prone to kidney dysfunction so they need a senior cat food with a reduced level of phosphorus to help support kidney health.

You can find the recommended daily rations for VETERINARY HPM® Senior Neutered cat food on this page and on the packaging. The rations will depend on your cat’s activity level and body weight. Weigh your cat regularly and adjust their rations if needed to ensure healthy weight maintenance. If you’re unsure how much to feed your cat, always ask your vet or vet nurse for advice.

To help your cat get accustomed to their new food, it's important to introduce it gradually. Mix a small amount of the new food with your cat's current food, gradually increasing the proportion until they're exclusively eating the new food. Use the following schedule as a guide for a successful transition:

• Days 1-2 – 75% current food and 25% new food.
• Days 3-4 – 50% current food and 50% new food.
• Days 5-6 – 25% current food and 75% new food.
• Day 7 onwards – 100% new food.
